WFP Innovation Challenge / Accelerator
World Food Programme Innovation Accelerator
WFP's Innovation Accelerator reviews applications on a rolling basis for solutions – including AI – that can be piloted or scaled to fight hunger and strengthen humanitarian response, with equity-free funding and mentorship.
Who it's really for. Startups and partner organizations with a working minimum viable product that could be piloted or scaled inside WFP operations: food systems, supply chain, cash assistance, early warning, nutrition, and increasingly AI applied to any of those. WFP looks for solutions it can actually deploy through country offices, so a clear operational use case beats a clever model. Both for-profits and nonprofits are considered.
What you get. Up to $100,000 in equity-free funding, a place in the WFP Innovation Accelerator's sprint program in Munich, mentorship, and the possibility of a field pilot with a WFP country office. For humanitarian-focused AI teams, the pilot pathway is the prize: it is one of the few ways to test a product inside a UN operation.
How to apply and what to watch. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, though WFP also runs themed calls and cohort intakes through the year, so the official page is worth checking for the current focus. Have a live demo ready; reviewers want to see it work. Related humanitarian programs include the UNHCR Innovation Accelerator and UNICEF Venture Fund.
